Join WMBA for the first “in-person luncheon” in over 24-months on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm for an incredible event featuring Jon Scholes (President of Downtown Seattle Association), and Patrick Bannon (President of Bellevue Downtown Association).

Registration and networking are from 11:30-12:00 pm.

Each speaker will present strategies and outlooks for their respective cities, and the event will have ample time for Q&A from the audience at the end.

Lunch is themed for Cinco de Mayo, so bring your appetites, your business cards, and your fun-loving personalities to a non-Zoom event!

Speakers:

Jon Scholes

President & CEO of the Downtown Seattle Association

Jon Scholes is president & CEO of the Downtown Seattle Association where he is responsible for the operations and programs of the DSA, a 650-member association formed in 1958 to create a healthy, vibrant downtown. In this capacity, Jon is also responsible for the management of the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID), which was established by property owners and the City of Seattle in 1999 to provide cleaning, safety, transportation, marketing, and public-realm management services across 285 square blocks in downtown.

He was appointed president and CEO of DSA in November of 2014 following six years as DSA’s vice president of advocacy and economic development. He has led the growth and expansion of the organization’s services, advocacy agenda, and response to the impacts of the pandemic on downtown Seattle. Jon has spent more than 20 years working in nonprofit advocacy, public affairs, local government, and in senior positions on political campaigns at the regional and state levels.

Jon serves on the boards of Visit Seattle, the International Downtown Association, and Downtown Emergency Services Center and has served on a number of city and county task forces focused on transportation, homelessness and housing. He was recognized in 2016 as a “40 Under 40” honoree by the Puget Sound Business Journal and named one of Seattle’s most influential people by Seattle Magazine in 2021.

Jon is a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow and attended the University of Texas in Austin before graduating from the University of Washington. He lives in downtown Seattle with his wife and their 12-year-old twins.

 

Patrick Bannon

President of the Bellevue Downtown Association

Patrick Bannon is president of the Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA), a nearly 50-year-old membership organization of business and civic leaders who champion a strong economic and cultural heart for Bellevue and the Eastside. Patrick and his talented team support members with advocacy, marketing, and major community events, and strategic programs to help the Downtown area thrive. Patrick joined the BDA as communications manager in 2005 and was appointed president in 2013. Prior to the BDA, he was an account executive for the Seattle and Los Angeles offices of Hill+Knowlton Strategies. He also spent a year in Hokkaido, Japan, as an English teacher for junior high students. Patrick serves on the board of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and is an ex-officio board member for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. He graduated from Pepperdine University, where he also met his wife, Sunni. They are Eastside residents with two fast-growing teenagers and a Labrador Retriever.
