This committee works on projects aimed at improving the financial literacy of youth and consumers, as well as providing professional development instruction for lenders.
The education committee works with Junior Achievement of Washington. In partnership with business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, helping them understand the business of life. JA Volunteers get to share their real-world experiences and make school relevant and fun.

Chair - Andy McDonough
Andy is passionate about advocating for and giving back to the mortgage industry and is enjoying his role as an Executive Board Member and the Chair of the Education Committee for the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association. He’s focused on continued growth and development of our members and is proud to work with the national MBA to bring the School of Mortgage Banking classes to Seattle annually.
Recently joining Upwell Mortgage as a Partner and SVP of Production, Andy will help lead their team and grow their company forward into this next decade. As an energetic senior leader of the mortgage industry, he’s spent most of his 20+ years building and developing production teams, most recently serving as SVP, Divisional Production leader for HomeStreet Bank.
Outside of his day job, Andy’s passions include his family, the outdoors and producing independent documentary adventure films. ”I love hiking and camping together with my family for ski trips and visiting National Parks in our Airstream.”

Anne Marie’s sales, recruiting and management career spans 25 plus years and she has been recruiting exclusively within the mortgage industry since 2006. She has had the unique experience of being an internal production headhunter for national and regional depositories as well as a regional mortgage and recruited externally for 7 years. Anne Marie joined Caliber Home Loans as the Regional Recruiter for the Pacific NW in 2019. She supports 5 States with Caliber. Her depth and relationships in the Pacific Northwest span many years and she has impacted many people.
Anne Marie is a native of Washington and lives in Bothell with her daughter and their Basset Hound, Beau.

Teresa Parco's professional experiences in the Mortgage Banking industry began in 2003. Her roles in: Sales, Operation, Production and Management have given her a broad spectrum of education and knowledge. She currently is employed with National MI and has served on the Board of Washington Association of Mortgage Professionals since 2011 this and was the Treasurer for 2014-2015. Teresa is newly assigned to Washington Mortgage Bankers Association on the Membership Committee, and is looking forward to the upcoming year in helping our Washington State association grow. Teresa has a husband and 4 children, loves family dinners, and enjoys the study of Cultural Arts, and Foreign languages.
Co-Chair - Robert Lipston
Robert Lipston is the Regional Director for Opes Advisors overseeing sales and the expansion of production in the Pacific Northwest.
Robert has been in the Mortgage industry since 1987 and spent the last 30+ years holding various positions of progressive responsibility in executive leadership. He most recently spent the past 5 years establishing and growing Opes Advisors, a division of Flagstar Bank as the Regional Director for the Pacific Northwest. Robert has a diverse set of skills and experience in sales, leadership, strategic business planning, operations management, secondary marketing, underwriting, retail mortgage banking, wholesale and correspondent lending. These skills give Robert a unique view of the industry that he is able to leverage into his daily business with his team. Robert is currently the President of the WMBA (Washington Mortgage Bankers Association), and has been actively involved on the board over the past 5 years. Robert has received numerous awards and accolades for his dedication to support his team and involvement in the mortgage community over the last few years, His most recent achievements have been named as One of the Top 100 Most Influential Mortgage Executives in America and the Mortgage Professionals Humanitarian and leadership award.
Robert resides in Auburn, WA. When he is not giving his all to his career and team, Robert spends time with his three children and always finds time for boating, classic cars and adventure.
The House Committee arranges and manages the monthly dinner venues, assists with special events and works in conjunction with Membership to promote the growth and involvement of new and current members and guests. This is a great starting point to find out more about the WMBA.

Melanie has been with ARC for 10 years in a variety of management positions. She has an extensive background in customer service that spans over 20 years. In her current position as Operations Manager at ARC she handles the award winning team of customer service representatives that have helped grow ARC from a credit only company to a full settlement services provider. Prior to her time with ARC, she spent 8 years in the cruise industry focusing on ADA compliance, itinerary writing, database building and resolving passenger concerns post cruise.
In her free time, Melanie volunteers with Big Brother Big Sisters and enjoys travel, cooking and sailing.
Co-Chair - Mike Olden

At American Reporting Company, Mike’s primary responsibility is managing and developing new business with banks, credit unions, and mortgage bankers. Mike has worked in the mortgage banking industry since 1984 and at American Reporting Company since 1997.
Mike also helps develop and deliver educational programs related to credit reporting and credit scoring for ARC clients, non-profit housing partners, and first time homebuyers. He is certified to teach continuing education to Realtors in Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii; and has been a featured presenter to national audiences.
Mike is a former board member of the Puget Sound Mortgage Lenders Association and the Community Homeownership Center. He served on the Mortgage Bankers Association State & Local Advisory Council

Earned a BBA in Finance from Angelo State University (Texas) in 2005. After graduation, I began my banking career as a Commercial Credit Analyst with First Horizon/First Tennessee’s Construction Lending Division in Irving, Texas. In 2008, prior to the Great Recession grabbing hold, my then CRE team manager brought me along to help energize the North Texas Division for Patriot Bank in Dallas, Texas. This community bank out of Houston had a myriad of issues related to CRE loans booked by predecessors, so I earned “battlefield” promotions to Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager in 2008/2009. The years from 2008-2011 were spent resolving Special Credits and managing Real Estate Owned by Patriot Bank. By the end of 2011, Texas had turned the corner and CRE lending began its ascension in our North Texas Division. After marriage in 2012, my wife was heavily recruited by Amazon in 2013. Similarly, I was able to connect with Mr. Tom Pozarycki, whom I knew from my First Horizon days in 2005-2008. Washington Federal hired me in 2013 as a CRE Relationship Manager (Vice President), and I have held that post since Day 1. In this position, I am expected to achieve high marks for new business development, finding those CRE clients who align with WaFd’s fiscal conservative values. The team consists of credit analysts and loan coordinators, and we work together to underwrite and present new opportunities for loans/deposits/treasury. Further, we manage a portfolio of clients with a range of property types (stabilized and under construction), as well as ongoing credit compliance with reporting and financial covenants.
Co-Chair - Tim Marymee
Tim Marymee has been active in commercial and residential real estate finance for over 26 years, and is currently a Vice President and loan officer with Washington Federal’s Income Property Lending Department. Tim joined Washington Federal in February 2003 after working for World Savings and Loan for almost 7 years. While at World, Tim held positions as a District Loan Underwriting Manager and also a Wholesale Loan Account Executive, servicing accounts in King and Snohomish counties. He also held underwriting and appraisal positions at Home Savings of America during the 1980’s and into the mid 1990’s.
Co-Chair - Courtney Hashimoto
Courtney Hashimoto is Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager for Umpqua Bank. Courtney has been in commercial real estate finance for 37 years. He has worked for Equitable Life, Puget Sound Bank, Key Bank, Washington Mutual, Cascade Bank, and for the past 2 ½ years at Umpqua Bank. During his career Courtney has served in a variety of lending positions, both as a loan officer and also as a credit officer. Courtney was formerly a Member of the Appraisal Institute and is a past president of the Seattle Chapter. Courtney is currently active in both the WMBA and NAIOP.

Gary has been a lender services attorney at Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson since 1982, working with lender clients to develop efficient and cost-effective documentation for lending activities ranging from individual residential transactions to large commercial projects. He has worked through the most complicated of real estate and C & I financings, and has assisted clients with complex troubled loans ranging from large multi-state residential construction workouts to the restructuring of downtown commercial and multi-family project financings.
Gary has served as President of the Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association and Associate Director of the Washington Mortgage Lenders Association. He also helped coordinate the merger of those two organizations to form the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association, where he now serves as a Director and co-chair to the legal-legislative committee. He has also been a board member of Habitat for Humanity Seattle/King County for more than a decade, and served as its President from 2011-2012.

Don built Evergreen from a small West Seattle office to a major regional company that encompasses more than 40 branches in the Western United States. During a period of upheaval in the mortgage banking industry, Don held fast to the values that motivated him to launch Evergreen in 1987. His passion to transform the lending experience for home buyers continues to define Evergreen as an organization and to inspire Don as a leader of positive responsive change. Hands-on, creative, insightful, Don is a visionary by nature. He insists on resilience and flexibility in charting Evergreen’s course. His many years at Evergreen’s helm makes him a rarity in the industry, a leader who knows all facets of mortgage banking, from sales and production, to credit risk and managing solvency long-term. Don started in the business as a real estate agent. Understanding the business inside and out makes Don a collaborative leader. He has an open door policy and invites company employees to participate in brainstorming and the direction of the organization. Don has served on the board of the Washington Mortgage Lenders Association since 1996 and was president in 2000, 2008, and 2009. He is active in many philanthropic efforts and supports opportunities to improve youth programs throughout the country. A lifelong Seattle resident, Don lives in the area with his wife and two sons and enjoys traveling and the outdoors.
Chair - Jeannine Sprague
Jeannine is an Account Manager with Essent Guaranty Inc. and covers Western Washington. She has been in the Mortgage Insurance Industry since 2003, where she has managed the Washington Market. She has been with Essent since March of 2012. Prior to Mortgage Insurance she started her career in Pharmaceutical Sales with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She has been on the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association Membership Committee for 3 years. Jeannine lives in West Seattle with her Husband and 2 daughters.
Co-Chair - Jillayne Schlicke

Jillayne Schlicke researches, writes, and instructs education courses for the real estate and mortgage industries as the owner of CE Forward, Inc. Jillayne also provides consulting services in the areas of compliance, mortgage lending law, mortgage fraud, ethics, and communications.
Jillayne is the founder of The National Association of Mortgage Fiduciaries, which serves the mortgage lending industry by raising ethical standards, creating a framework for industry self regulation, publishing articles on ethics and compliance, and helping the industry prepare for the emergence of fiduciary duties.
Jillayne received an M.A. in Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle and studied psychology, philosophy, and business ethics. Jillayne presents hundreds of classes and workshops each year, has published numerous articles for various publications, has been appointed to 38 professional association chair positions or committees and has received 14 industry awards including “Instructor of the Year” from the Seattle King County Association of Realtors and “Affiliate of the Year” from the Washington State Assoc of Realtors. In 2013 she was chosen as one of “100 Most Influential Real Estate Thought Leaders” by Inman Real Estate News.
Jillayne has completed the Mortgage Bankers Association’s School of Mortgage Banking Courses I and II.
Co-Chair - Wendi Klein
Wendi has served in the Mortgage Industry since 1989, in Sales and Management, to Processing Underwriting. Wendi is responsible for Business Development, Recruiting, Events & Onboarding for Directors Mortgage in the WA Region. She also takes care of her own Clients as Sr. Wholesale Account Executive for USA Direct Funding, a division of Directors Mortgage, and is part of the DM Leadership Team.
Wendi currently serves on the boards of WAMP, WMBA and NAPMW. She has won numerous Service Excellence, President’s Club and Principle awards, including 2017 Nomination for the WAMP Outstanding Female Mortgage Professional.
Wendi enjoys Interior Design/Art, Event Planning/Design, Volunteering, Seahawks, Swing Dancing, Golfing, Hiking, Skiing, Travel & Networking. She has 7 nieces & nephews who she loves to spend time with any time she can.
This committee obtains donations for the annual fundraising auction, and makes all arrangements for the auction. They also help arrange the toy drive at Christmas and the food drive at Thanksgiving.

Chair - Sharon Knowles
Sharon Knowles is an Account Manager for Arch MI and covers western Washington and Alaska. She received the President’s Trophy in 2007 as the top sales person in the country. She is passionate about giving back to the industry, was President of Washington Mortgage Bankers Association in 2012 and received three awards from the Mortgage Bankers Association of American when she was editor of the WMBA’s Lending line quarterly news publication in 1997, 1995 and 1993. She has remained on the board for many years and currently serves as scholarship chairman and was recently named Director Emeritus. Sharon also received the Washington Association of Mortgage Professional’s Outstanding Account Executive award in 2016.
Sharon graduated from Western WA University where she met her husband and they just celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. She has two children ages 20 and 18 and they are currently attending college.
