The Washington Mortgage Bankers Association is proud to present the 44th Annual Pacific Northwest Mortgage Lenders Conference on September 14th & 15th, 2021. 

This year’s edition of the PNMLC will featured important leaders from several areas of our industry – leadership, public policy, housing trends, and economics. Some of our featured speakers include Kristy Fercho, Wells Fargo; David Stevens, Mountain Lake Consulting; Mark Palim, Fannie Mae, Kwame Donaldson, Zillow; and Ryan and Ryan of RE Source TV as well as Robert D. Broeksmit, CMB, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association.

David H. Stevens CMB, (Dave) is the CEO of Mountain Lake Consulting, Inc. Dave is a 38 year veteran of the Mortgage Banking industry.

Dave previously served as the President and CEO of Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and prior to this role, Dave served as the US Assistant Secretary of Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner at HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). In 2018 David was named Mortgage Professional Of The Year by National Mortgage Professional Magazine, has been named one of Bloomberg’s 50 most powerful people in real estate, and Inman’s 100 top most influential leaders. He received the Founders Award from NAHREP in 2013. David is often cited in the media having appeared on CNBC, PBS, and Bloomberg TV and quoted in major media. He has testified before the US Senate and House of Representatives multiple times and continues to influence policymakers in Washington.

Dave received his CMB (Certified Mortgage Banker) designation in 2015 and holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Mark Palim, Deputy Chief Economist and Vice President, Fannie Mae

Sponsored by:  Mark Palim is Vice President of Applied Economic and Housing Research at Fannie Mae. He is responsible for overseeing the Economic and Strategic Research Group’s forecasting functions and manages multi-disciplinary partnerships across the company to address specific business issues facing Fannie Mae. Dr. Palim is a key spokesperson on economic trends and a frequent speaker at national mortgage finance and housing industry events. Before working at Fannie Mae, Dr. Palim was an economic consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and LECG. His practice focused on applying economic and financial theory to a variety of business disputes and policy questions. He worked as a consulting and testifying expert in antitrust cases and disputes in the financial services industry. In addition, Dr. Palim led a team of 75 adjudicators charged with valuing claims for the Department of Justice and the Special Master administering the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Dr. Palim was first involved with economic forecasting and mortgage securities in 1988 when he was a portfolio manager and reported to the Chief Economist at Mercantile Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Subsequently, he continued his work on macroeconomic and policy issues as a staff economist for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU). Dr. Palim has a Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University and a B.A. in international studies from Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his academic training, Dr. Palim is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder (CFA). Dr. Palim is married to an attorney and has four children. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland, and grew up in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Palim is fluent in French.

Kwame Donaldson, Senior Economist, Zillow

Kristy Fercho is Chairman-Elect of the MBA and executive vice president and head of Wells Fargo Home Lending. As head of Home Lending, Fercho oversees one of the nations leading combined home lenders and servicers, funding one of every 12 loans and servicing one of every eight loans in the country. In her role, Fercho leads a team of more than 25,000 mortgage professionals in sales, operations, servicing, capital markets, portfolio management, and related business, risk management, and supporting functions. Fercho joined Wells Fargo in 2020 from Flagstar Bank, where she had served as president of the company’s mortgage division since 2017. Prior to joining Flagstar, she spent 15 years with Fannie Mae, where she led the strategy and business performance of single-family customers in the western United States and also served in customer engagement and human resources roles. Fercho began her career and served in a variety of sales, operations, and human resources roles at Baxter International before moving to Pepsi Co. Inc., where she ultimately was director of worldwide corporate human resources. Fercho currently serves as Chairman-Elect of the board of the Mortgage Bankers Association, vice-chair of the MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, co-chair of the Affordable Housing Council, and a member of its Residential Board of Governors. She also serves on the boards of City Year and the Detroit Zoological Society. Her industry accolades include HousingWire recognizing her as a Women of Influence in the housing industry; MReport honoring her as one of the Top Women in Housing; Diversity Journal listed her among its Women Worth Watching; National Mortgage Professional Magazine named her to its list of Most Powerful Women, and the Michigan Chronicle selecting her for its Women of Excellence recognition. Fercho is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.

Robert D. Broeksmit, CMB, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Bob is a senior finance executive and corporate officer with a 33-year career in the mortgage sector. Saul Mortgage Company subsidiary. Bob also was a Vice President at Prudential Home Mortgage for seven years.  He has overseen annual originations of $9 billion, a balance sheet of $10 billion in residential mortgages, and a servicing portfolio of $20 billion.  He also held positions at Great Western Mortgage, Krupp Residential Mortgage, and The Money Store.

Bob has served as the Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Residential Board of Governors and as a member of its Board of Directors.  Firms under his leadership have garnered multiple awards for servicing operations excellence, including Freddie Mac’s Tier One and Hall of Fame designations. He is a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) and a graduate of Yale University.
